What are some of the different interpretations you have seen? Have you ever had an on field disagreement? Tell us about it.

Personally, I was keeping wicket to a fast bowler, about 7m back from the stumps. The batsmen left the ball alone but did not return to his crease. I took the ball and sprinted (which I thought made my intentions clear) to the stumps and took the bails off. Is this a legitimate stumping? The square leg umpire didn't think so, he thought the ball was dead. What do we think?

What have your experiences been?

unless the batsman waited a good few seconds before leaving his crease to tap down the wicket, which your post implies he did not, then I'd say OUT!
