Love your thoughts on your stance... How u stand and what are your reasons behind them? Also in particular for keepers who are into and beyond their mid 30's, how u find your stance, in relation to your agility and pressure on knees and movement?
Love all your thoughts Cheers Trigger

| Semi at most - Cos at mid 40s my knees are knackered and I can't do a full crouch anymore! Agility is a thing of the past |

Was watching Prior keep in England's recent test against SL... I am seriously looking into this half croutch thing.. I you tubed a few county games, and every keep I found half croutches..Unbelievable!!!
I would have thought that in Aus with bouncier pitches, they might half croutch, whilst in England if bounce is lower (this is just what u hear from commentators in Aus) then they would get right down to a full croutch..But its the other way around...
Hey Retro, how do u find the half croutch for a guy with dodgy knees, and also moving quickly, in particular getting low to a ball that keeps low or skids???
Can anyone suggest a good half croutch stance? Looking at tips on stance and positioning of gloves? Help is always welcome. Cheers Trigger

Depending on bowler and pitch I adjust between the both as we have a low skiddy quick who on whatever pitch keeps it low
I prefer the half crouch but sometimes it needs the full one |

Trigger, Don't listen to me pal - I'm a knackered old git! As I said, agility is a thing of the past.
The way I try combat low bounce is to stand closer to the stumps, so I am always taking the ball higher up.
The bit that Prior does in taking one step forward is the sort of thing I do.
From a coaching perspective, the argument about crouching is mixed. There is no right or wrong way, but each County has its own preferred method. When watching young keepers a skilled coach can (apparently) tell which County they are at.

Hey Retro, Yeah getting older is a pain in the ar$e for sure.. I will take your advice, and this season I'll focus on semi croutch, I want to be quicker getting up to high balls from a full croutch position, so half croutch might be an excellent option..
I noticed all County keepers half croutching, very interesting to see...
Are u playing this season retro? |

| prior keeps semi crouched cos he plays on world class wickets so a poor chance of a bad bounce but if your below county you should in my view go fully down so if the ball doesnt bounce you're able to stay low, im a 15 year old who plays in league 1 mens |
