I've had foot injuries quite a lot over the past few seasons, and was thinking about my bowling boots. I have Asics ones, which are very nice, but the problem I find is that in New Zealand (I dunno about the rest of the world, but I imagine it's similar) you do more bowling at practices throughout the week than you do in a game, and until you reach a certain level almost all of your training is done on concrete, artificial grass covered pitches/nets.
Firstly this is much worse than grass for your body, but this is unavoidable. What I was realising is that there are no bowling boots which you can use on artificial pitches? Technically you can "interchange" some of them but in my experience the rubber stud replacements are useless and I always slip.
So I, and many other fast bowlers, have to use either trainers or cricket shoes with rubber soles, both of which are low cut and don't offer anywhere near as much support as specialist bowling boots. Which on reflection is somewhat silly, as when you're bowling on concrete for long periods of time, that would be particularly when you'd want to use bowling boots.
Does no-one else have this problem? |
