One of my 2009 GM Orginal Teknik pads has been damaged and I wondered if there was any way to repair it. When carrying a battery pack, the acid leaked out while I was wearing them, meaning acid went over one of the pads. This has destroyed the leather on the knee role, leaving it very baggy and a beige colour. In time, this will fall off, leaving it exposed. Furthermore, most of the stitching around the upper part of the knee role has come away. Can the finish of the pad be replaced or are there any alternatives?

| yeah sorry Ryan. They look buggered. If i was you i would shop around and find some cheaper ones from a smaller brand. You will be surprised how good they can be. |

Order GM for example and your getting pads made from a seriously large company who spend thousands designing and developing new products for cricketers, streamlined, more protection and tested by professionals. No risk taking. Yes you may pay more but you are getting more. Most smaller companies simply get pads off the shelf and dont do any testing , simply banging logos on a standard pair of pads and selling them off as premium. |

| Ok guys, I feared that was going to be the response. I think I can soldier on with them for a while yet as I love them. What pads would you recommend? |

Ryan , thats an open question as all the people who side with their own brand will suggest theirs (makes sense) Id stick with GM (see i use them) but there are lots of quality brands out there. |

The point I was making Nick was that very very very few brands actually do send there products for BS 6183 testing under the PPE Directive for CE Certification.
I know GM do for a fact.
Maybe other brands can correct me on this issue.

| Omega people (kids) just dont understand this , they think its as simple as importing pads from abroad plonking a sticker on them and wayahh im a "brand" , Wayahh, wait until some kid gets injured wearing them and they are in court lol. (or prison) |

Players get hurt everyday using soft leather goods from various brands which are made in Pakistan/India/China/New Zealand etc etc
How many of these brands have taken out Public Liability Insurance ?
Bottom line is that there is zero policing in the UK for cricket products. |
