Just wondering what you believe the ideal height to be taking the ball eg waist high or knee high? Like to see what different opinions you get on this. I tend to like taking the majority of balls at waist height however this usually requires me to stand very close as the bowlers aren't too quick and pitches are very slow and low, and so edges can sometimes fly, so debating what to do, what do you guys think? | better to stand at a distance where you have time to react. personally i either stand back or stand right up. standing half-way means i usually don't have enough time to react to edges. |

| i hate keeping in junors, mainly because the ball doesnt carry. but when i keep in seniors the hight i find the most comfortable taking the ball, is either at knee hight or right above my head |

| I have been told before that taking them knee height is a good height but I much prefer waist, maybe slightly below so I can move faster with my knees flexed. |

I have read and understood the reasoning behind taking somewhere in between knees and waist preferably.. Unfortunately, as mentioned earlier, when u are keeping to low bouncing pitches u move up, and rightly so, yet the edges fly damn fast past u.. Perhaps it's a sign of my early middle age reflexes.. I find I would rather get a look at a couple of edges by moving a few feet further back, most edges carry, even if its low, the one major drawback is if u get a ball pitched around leg side and moving away off the seam, u better have good footwork and be preapred to dive for several down leg side takes..
Is this correct, I don't know, but to me it makes sense.. It's kind of a compromise.. But I didn't drop any catches last season that were within the boundaries of catchable..
