Interesting piece in the Wisden Cricketer this month with comment from Newbery thus "Several internationals such as Kumar Sangakkara, Chris Gayle and Sachin Tendulkar use Newbery bats but with the stickers of their sponsors".
Controversial - isn't such information usually commercially protected?
I would have thought so, but it proves whoever was arguing this in another thread about Tendulkar, was right. (the eagled eyed person spotting the little newberry hammer on the addidas bat) From a munfacturers point of view why shouldnt Newberry reveal who uses their bats, the issue is why are these players not using their own sponsors bats.
at the end of the day, adidas dont make their own bats ( i was told this in a cricket shop on sunday) so why shouldnt a player source their own bats and jut sticker them. it appears to me that adidas are purely looking at selling to colts players who want to play like their hero's
the famous bat that Tendulkar is using right now is made by BAS
im sure this was argued that it had the little newberry hammer on it. Also why would Newberry be stupid enough to lie about Tendulkar using their bat?
newbery must have given some bats to Tendulkar...that doesnt mean that the one he is using currently is from newbery...google it and u will find some results regarding BAS and his current bat...
can you? Who knows then. Although still dotn think Newberry would lie about who they supply there bats to and that article about Tendulkars bat does only state who repaired it not who made it.
