Well if your a batter i would suggest not to wear either whilst batting, you probably wear batting shorts and you dont want to much clothing on out in the middle. Fielding, yes either is suitable, however, clearly the pants will have benefits on the whole leg, whereas the shorts just the hamstrings, quads and generally aove the knee.
The Benefits include, increased circulation which in turn leads to a greater ability to provide oxygen rich blood to the workig muscles and remove waste products such as carbon dioxide and combat produts such as lactic acid ( which causes cramps!!). Secondly, it will reduce muscle oscillation which is essentialy when a muscle is used, the muscle itsef will shake. It is not overly noticeable but it can causes micro muscle tears whih again lead to premature muscle soreness and injuries. The garment will provide stability and reduce muscle shake. Finally, the main reason, is thermo regulation. Every brand has its own way of putting a name to it but it means keeping the body at the right temperature, in your situation you woud purchase something which reduces temperature and keeps you cool. I would suggest that you spend as much money as you can on your compression gear as the more expensive ones are usully the better and therefore more effective.
Sorry it was abit of an essay

Well if your primarily a bowler i would suggest that you buy the shorts. The pants would do the same job but im not sure if they would be comfy under whites for long periods of time as i have not tried them. If you can, try both on for comfort etc. There's no point wearing them, regardless of the benefits unless they are comfy to play in. (skg 13) is right in saying that skins are probably the best manufacturer of them but you could try adidas tech fit and the new power web system.

Powerweb's hardly new, it's been around four or five years. I've worn them when I go running before, rather good.
