There's a very old saying.. "Beware the wounded tiger".. or to put it another way, underrate an Aussie side at your peril.. Sure, they are not the side they were a few years ago, but that doesn't make them a poor side, it just means that at this time there are better ones. Have England got a chance of retaining the Ashes ? Well I wouldn't bet on it. Next to India, Oz are the most difficult team to beat at home, and with the Ashes at stake, they won't roll over without one helluva fight.. You can bet on that. .

australia will win 2-1, they will win at brisbane and melbourne, with england winning at sydney, and adelaide and perth being draws. they are to good a team to lose this, the biggest series of them all.

if you go through their team it is pretty strong,if any of them get a start and keep on going each match then it is theirs to win.

But you can say the same for England if Strauss gets in he goes big if kp gets in can win a game in a session the thing is they are not on form but hey the ashes tends to lift players that's why I think kp will have a major impact plus I think the batting slightly goes to aus but we have the better bowling so should be a good series to see who steps up and who cracks under the pressure

Australia have been one of the finest teams of all time for the last 20 years. They have been blessed with some amazing cricketers but the loss of Warne and co will mean a huge rebuilding programe, they have some fine young players coming through the ranks but they will take decades to reach the level they have produced in recent years!!! personally i think England are in a far better position to take the mantle for a few years but they need to work hard at the grass roots level to build on the fine squad they currently have!!! India are an amazing team at the moment but are ageing as are the SAFFAs, Sri Lanka have a brilliant balance between experience and youth and will get stronger over the next 5-10 years!!! the international game is looking fantastic for a longtime to come!!

My view at the moment is that there are five teams in world cricket - the Ashes sides, India, South Africa and Sri Lanaka - who are broadly equal. All are very strong in their own conditions but limited in other countries.
To whit, Australia now start narrow favourites for the Ashes in my book. They are not the side they were four years ago, that line is broken, but they probably have the edge over England in a few key areas - they have the more stable opening partnership because of Cook's failings, have the more proven run makers intheir middle order, and have the greater impact with the old ball.
Both sides have selection issues - for Australia, the balance is right but there are questions as to the personnel, with North, Haddin, Hauritz and Hussey unsure of their places and a question mark over Johnson. England, though, are going to be a bowler light, especially as Anderson is completely unsuited to the conditions... |

Life in Aussie land can be different for many folk Bob based on their backround. At best the Aussies can just about tolerate themselves let alone others so that is a major factor.
Look at former great players from Australia and see what they are doing now.
Correct that they are setting up cricket academies in 3rd world countries (India) rather than give something back to the land that gave them the stage to perform at the highest level.
