Forgive me for starting another thread, but thought this would help organise this trip.

As posted in another thread on the Forum in answer to some interesting questions about GM and our unique DXM process :

"Very interesting comments, my thanks to all contributors. I do have a marginal advantage insofar as I am very familiar with how GM bats are made, why we have invested £500,000 in our Nottingham factory over the last few years and why DXM is a technically superior manufacturing method to any other brand. Bear in mind that most brands do not have a factory, they merely buy generic product from an OEM supplier.

So - an open invitation to 5 people from this Forum to come and visit us in Nottingham. May I suggest you indicate whether you would like to attend in this thread and may I ask the Forum administrator for their assistance in the final selection. The visit will be on a weekday, we will provide a buffet lunch but you will need to make your own way to the factory.

Huckster, there is a place reserved for your goodself. Come and see why we do what we do.

Kind regards

Edward Lowy"

At the moment:

have expressed interest in coming.

I suggest we keep this thread open for a few more days - Nick, would be useful to touch base with you offline - my personal email is elowy@unicorngroup.com

We enjoy doing what we do. We would be delighted to show some Forum members around our factory.

Kind regards

Edward Lowy

Edward

I have followed the previous thread with great interest and find it very refreshing that you are putting yourself in the public domain to at times be shot down and also to answer the questions/queries direct rather than on hear say. The way it has been handled and answered has been first class and has certainly moved your company up in my estimations.

This is not me trying to gate crash, this is purely to congratulate you and to say you now have a new fan of your company and will certainly be looking to buy GM for here on in.

On a separate note to take your company to the absolute top of my list and with so much 20/20 cricket being played at club level, have you thought about offering your coloured pads to the public as one of your major competitors Gray Nicolls do.

Thanks Tagg, very kind of you to say so. We just try and be straight with people, we feel we have a very good story to tell.

In terms of coloured pads, yes we have considered it but do not believe that it is an economic proposition - we do not believe that there is yet enough demand to make it worthwhile having a multiplicity of colours in a selection of styles.

Perhaps this will change - we are listening.

Kind regards - are you down for the factory trip?

Edward

Can you confirm whether Marcus Trescothick will be using Gunn and Moore equipment next year, Mr Lowy? It's perhaps a little sad, but people around here are interested in such things.

Understood on the Coloured pads front.

I would like to come and see your factory if it works workwise.

No he won't. Marcus is moving onto pastures and sponsors new and we wish him most sincerely the very best of success.

At GM we have hugely enjoyed our long association with Marcus, an absolutely outstanding batsman of his generation and the most charming of Ambassadors.

Whereabouts in the West Country are you?

My respect for GM, the brand and the people behind it, has increased greatly after reading this thread. I think it is great that someone from a top company is communicating directly with the customers. You never hear of that!

One question: If I went to the factory (not for the open invitation), would I be able to get a concession/discount on GM gear and do you sell factory seconds?

cheers
