There has been alot posted about advertising on this forum. Some people have been trying to market themselves and their products through the site. They even ask other members to post positive comments about their products.
I know for a fact that as the forum can be popular, that some brands are thriving on the publicity it provides. This is not a shock, as the forum is their for people to discuss cricket products. And if a product gets a good following, then their is no harm in that.
To clear up the rules i would like to state what they are as of now.
1. No retailer is allowed to big up their site on this website. 2. No retailer is allowed to post any link to their site. 3. No manufacturer is allowed to poach business by making posts advertising their services on this website. eg, give me a ring etc.. 4. No Manufacturer, who has a retail section on their site is allowed to post advertising their site. 5. No member is allowed to post on behalf of any other member.
A true manufacturer has retailers to sell his bats, and should not need to retail his own products. At the moment, such a manufacturer is unwelcome on this site.
A manufacturer like kookaburra etc is free to mention their kit, updates and forthcoming products. and If Cricket Supplies do not sell a product mentioned, I will not remove a link to another retailer should it warrant the link.
Cricket Supplies offer a great service with good pricing, this has been built up over the past 20 years. They feel the forum is the right way to encorage people to discuss cricket, however do NOT want this to be used by competition, discussing their products.
I will now be removing the "Items for Sale" section and will be asking Tom and Sandeep to BAN any member abusing the forum. (Dont worry, their are only a few)
I hope this clears this up, please ask your questions if you have any? |

So you have said that direct sellers are not welcome on your site. However you sell Newbury and Salix gear, that I know deal direct. As well as GM who sell through sponsorship direct. And Kookaburra who dont sell direct but own a competertive company to yours. So they are welcome on the site if they are a major brand that you sell And that kids of a certain age want to buy. I like to see what other brands are out there and what people are trying to pedle on ebay. I also want to be able to speak about the brands I use and offer advice on how good the performance of the equipment I use. Can I do this on this forum or not as I am not a competitor of the forum? |

Thanks for making the rules clear on this Nick. It will make the forum much better.
I think the only reason complaints came in were because some manufacturers seem to get preferential treatment, and others not. If you are consistent then that is fine.
I know that this has come up a number of times, but Fusion is one such example. I for one don't mind any of the posts relating to their products and services, and in fact welcome them. However, to ban other posts relating to other companies but not fusion seems a little bit biased.
It's one example of a number... just the most talked about.

Trust me Fusion postings were targeted last year, However I dont mind people saying a brand is great, but shoving it down peoples throats is not good.
Note to Tom, please ensure Fusion is not over exposed, we dont want to have an uneasy balance. |

To clarify. I meant on their manufacturer website. And they have not been on the forum begging members for custom !!!! You can do what you want on the forum, advising people about product, however if you have a website that sells directly, or you ask forum members to contact you, then I will treat this as advertising. (if you mention your site etc..)
