I bought a kookaburra ICE sub 10 at the end of last season and patiently knocked it in and waited for the new season to begin. I used it for the first time during training today and it broke about 15 minutes in. The bat has a crack high up on the splice going across the grain of the wood. The crack starts in the center of the splice near the end of where the handle joins the blade and all the way out to the edge of the bat. There is also a vertical crack running down the splice which crosses with the other one forming a square almost.
The bat also sounded very loud in the couple of throw downs i did with it before facing up to some real bowling. I knew that kook's broke easily but this bat must have been defective.
I'm hoping to return it for a refund but i'm worried because I have had the bat for such a long time. Granted any good bat should survive more than one net session against gentle medium pace.
