Gday guys, After I leave school and finish my HSC I will be looking to go overseas on a 'GAP'-like experience. But, instead of going to an English school for a year, I would rather have the opportunity to play club cricket for an English side. I am only amateur and would pay for the plane ticket across- but would be looking for a job eg. pouring beers down at the clubhouse etc. Having the chance to also stay with a fellow player or family of the club would also be greatly appreciated and having been on two cricket tours to the UK, being billeted with English families has been a very rewarding experience of 'Pommy Life'. This would also enable me to spend less on accommodation and more on travelling around the place.
I am a keeper and a top- mid order batsman (rather no. 5 or 6) but have also batted in the top 4 for rep. cricket and school. Unfortunately, choosing to play 1st XI cricket for my school has limited my representative opportunities but have played in junior rep. sides (12s,14s,16s) and also played a season of 1st grade cricket with my local club last season at the age of 16 (along with some ex-sydney 1st graders). We went on to win the premiership. This season I'm captaining the 1sts school team, but would much rather be playing grade cricket.
I also have my level one umpires course and am applying to receive my level one coaching certificate but have been helping coach the clubs under 10 and 12 sides over the past 2 season (specifically with wicketkeeping and fielding)
I know this is a long post, but as my upcoming HSC year will be a very busy one, it is important that I explore my options as early as possible so that I know what I will be doing after I finish.
The season will be 2010's and I am preferably looking to join a club close to London (because I absolutely love the city and would be looking to explore it further).
If any clubs are interested in a keeper for 2010 or require further information, please get in contact with me on lewmair@bigpond.net.au
I can also obtain references from coaches and club officials if need be. Cheers Ed |
