What's all the hype about this slogger?

What because he averages 70 in List A cricket he's some sort of superstar?

So he slogged a couple of List A tons against Sri Lanka A, so what?

Reality check, slogging medium paced dobbers in England isn't the same as getting humiliated by Umar Gul.

Learn to play proper shots, as that stupid ramp shot, is a disgrace to International cricket.

The day Adam Gilchrist is termed 'slogger' is the day people have lost their minds!

I was working Nick, plus NZ vs SA started.

Back to your reply.

However well England played in the ODIs/T20s, it wasn't really Earth shattering. Pakistan in the Test series mainly used 3 bowlers(Gul, Ajmal & Rehman). Factor in that during the ODIs that Ajmal, Gul and Afridi could only bowl 60% of the overs, there was already less pressure on the English batsmen.

You need to look at things in perspective, England normally only manage scores of 240-260. These are to big for a weak batting line up like Pakistan, but to India and Sri Lanka that wouldn't be a problem.

Warner isn;t a slogger though - he hits proper cricket shots very hard indeed, which is subtly different!

i think you have to blood players in any level of cricket to see if they can perform. You cannot ignore someone with an average of 70.
(david warner is a slogger)

however i agree about the ramp shot, looks good when it works , looks awful when it doesnt.
