Posted - 10/06/2011 : 00:00:51 Hi Guys,
Just thought I would ask around your opinions as I have had many responses to this at my club. When batting, how do you compose yourself for every ball. Some people have to told me to be arrogant and tell yourself the bowler can't get you out. Others say give yourself a phrase that you need to focus on such as 'watch the ball' etc. (this one I tend to see many pros use)
How do you focus yourself at the crease? and does it work?
Thanks :)

Posted - 01/05/2012 : 13:25:07 Well i would suggest you to stay as cool as possible.Stay on the most comfortable manner which you feel comfortable.Never try to imitate someone else.Watch the ball right from the beginning as the bowler starts to take his run-up.When you are about to play the ball make sure that your feet is moving.Feet movement is very important to play any sort of shot in cricket.Get closer to the ball, try to play the ball close to the body.Play with soft hands as you begins to start your innings(especially on bouncing tracks). Try this it will definitely work for you |

Thats ridiculous, why would you not look at where the fielders are? |

Posted - 16/02/2012 : 15:10:04 I find myself feeling confident in a work league game and then on the weekend games bricking myself. Any tips on getting prepaired for batting?
Confident in nets, work league... |

Posted - 11/06/2011 : 02:56:48 I try to watch the seam of the ball like a hawk so that when the ball is delivered I am fully concentrating on the ball. |

Posted - 11/06/2011 : 00:14:26 Thanks guys, really good responses here. It's good to hear different rituals and techniques you go through. For example I always scratch my guard before facing a ball..not to the extent trott does, just gives me a routine. |

Posted - 10/06/2011 : 19:43:51 I've really got to make myself watch, and not be stupid...and when im in for a long innings, its tiring, but, a big score doesnt come easy! I say to my self, 'just watch it, play straight' when the bowler is coming into bowl, and have my own little rituals i follow, however its important to switch off after every ball...so as not to lose concentration at a vital time... I tend to think of food for tea, cleaning my gear, ****ty stuff which has nothing to do with the game in hand, and then turn the concentration back on when I'm facing |

Posted - 10/06/2011 : 10:03:52 The latter, and yes it does. Preferred ones are either "wheres the seam?" (the best way of working out what the ball might do), "with the spin" ( reminder not to heave across the line of the ball) or just "focus" |
