I went down to the Warsop workshop last Friday with the hope of purchasing a new bat. The workshop, although in the 'middle of nowhere', was clearly signposted on its road. I was welcomed into the workshop by the man and the two ladies (unfortunately i do not know their names) and shown into a room with all their stock. In short handle, there were about 7 Venoms, 15 Platinums, 20 Superior and Butterflies and the odd Schimitar Bow and 5 Star here and there. I began looking through all the bats in short handle and eventually found this Platinum which felt absolutely brilliant in my hands:

It weighs 2lb 10, has 33mm edges, 10/11 grains and 2/3 of which are heartwood. There are a few blemishes on the face but the heartwood does a good job of disguising them and this was easily the best Platinum there in terms of grains. At the moment I am knocking it in so I will report back on how it plays later, but at first hit, the bat pings very nicely off the bat mallet.

The service was top notch, as already mentioned, I received a nice greeting from all who worked there and whilst I was browsing bats, I got regular check ups to see if I needed any help, which is always nice. I also brought in another bat which had split open on its back for a verdict on whether it was repairable or not-I was given an honest opinion: it can be fixed but there is a high chance the bat will splinter in the repair process. As well as this, one of the girls gave me a detailed explanation on how to knock in my new beauty the right way and a knocking in information sheet just in case I forgot. I also bought some 'keeping inners, which were the wrong size so I had to trek back into the shop soon after leaving to ask if I could change-they said yes without hesitation. They even made the ol' mother a cup of coffee when we were there. The only bad part about the visit was that there were many things they didn't have in stock. All in all though-absolutely brilliant service from very friendly, knowledgeable people!

As well as the 'keeping inners I bought, I also bought a pair of the Butterfly batting gloves, some batting inners and 2 extra octopus grips. I was also given a free bat cover with the bat which is a nice extra to be given. Here are the gloves, batting inners and the bat cover:

Its a nice bat cover, but I see they have given you the cover that normally comes with the 5star or superior. not the Platinum or Venom

Hardwood is suppose to go on the Outside of the willow. it doesnt really matter much, and maybe just a bugbear of mine but its a lefthanders bat

wonder why they offer the Plat £15 cheaper than RRP but don't offer a similar discount on the Venom?
